Our new ‘virtual band’ is almost ready to kick off with ‘The Matilda Project’ and we hope you get involved!
We’ve designed the Project with the goal of being accessible and inclusive to all ages and abilities — so if you’re a new beginner to a seasoned pro there will be a fun part for you to have a go with.
Our V-Band musicians can pick up a Parts Pack for $5 from the Ranges Music shop that is broken into your instrument group (ie. Flute, Guitar, Drums, Voice). Each pack may have a few different parts at varying levels to suit the challenge you’re after.
Everyone will have access to a series of practice tracks (slow and medium tempo) and a backing track. We hope that you’ll work through your part and then (audio) record or video your performance to share with us (while listening to the backing track in your headphones). We’ll combine everyone’s contributions into a series of fun videos to share with our musical community.
We’ll also have some helpful videos coming out from the Ranges Music Network team and friends to share tips, ways to tackle your parts and demonstrate some of the riffs and licks you’ll be working on!
I really hope that Parents take up the challenge to have a go at this with their kids! If you play an instrument, dabble, or maybe would like to #learntoplay while you #playtolearn, this is a great opportunity to get into a instrument alongside your young musicians!
When the world returns to ‘normal’ we’ll have the opportunity to get all the Project members together for a big Matilda jam.
