We teach that in our kind of music education there are no rules, just tools that you can sharpen, practice and use to take you anywhere you'd like to go!
Our Mentors open doors for our creatives to walk, run or jump through!
... And we always say it's about the Journey -- not the destination.

What makes the RMN different?
Our musicians always comment that making music and building creativity with the Ranges Music Network is different than any other learning experience they've had before.
We #PLAYTOLEARN
Whether with pre-schoolers, Preps, Primary, Teens or Adults -- we always have fun and use the love of music to inspire your progress. It's not just a tagline -- it's what we do day in, day out.
We meet you where you're at
The RMN is based around inclusion and not exclusivity. We're here to support all of our members to have fun and grow -- regardless of your age or ability.
We work based on evidence
We support and encourage musicians and nourish a mutual respect between learners and mentors. Our Team uses the latest research on brain development, a needs-based, neuro-affirming approach to inform how we support your growth.
We value our Team
Having a talented and dedicated team of Artist Mentors is key to our success. We support our team to grow and develop their skills and knowledge to ensure they can support you with valuable feedback, insights and experience.
We build creative people (not just great musicians)
The primary job of your Mentor is to open doors for you to walk, run or jump through. We're here to nuture your interest and passions to promote confidence and ingenuity throughout all aspects of your life.
We are always evolving!
Embracing a culture that is open to new ideas and approaches is key to providing you with the best creative learning experience. There's always something new coming to the RMN!

What happens each week?
Here's what will happen for our in-school programs when it comes to lesson or ensemble time -- and what you can do between sessions.
Schedule update
You'll receive a notice via email or SMS when you have an upcoming lesson, or with a reminder to check schedules.rangesmusic.net for your upcoming sessions.
On your session day
Those with portable instruments of their own (Gutiars, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass) can bring their instruments to school for their session.
At session time
Your Music Mentor will come and collect you from class and you'll head to the teaching space.
After your lesson or ensemble
Your Mentor will add feedback, notes and resources to share with you online. Don't forget to pose for that lesson 'snap of the day!' (Rock Star poses are a must!).
There will be some suggestions of things you can work on and pointers to resources to have a go at if you're looking for something new!
At home between sessions
You can use the email link or log into your Member Portal (coming soon!) to review what your Mentor has shared.
Remember that 5 to 10 minutes of play a day (focused or just fun) will go a long way to building your motor pathways!!
COMING SOON: Share your progress and post a question
Your upcoming member portal will have the ability to capture and share video, audio or snaps of your efforts at home with your team -- plus post a question for one of us to provide support with!
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
We know that if you have a question someone else will too! So let's look at some of the most common Q&A's about the RMN...
When did the RMN start?
Shaun Evans brought together a team of talented Music Educators to offer in-school music lessons at Macedon Primary in 2020. It quickly grew to 3, then 5 then 8 schools and onward! We're proud to #playtolearn with over 250 musicians each week across the Macedon Ranges.
Where is the RMN going?
The ultimate goal of the RMN is to become a Not-For-Profit charitable organization supporting Arts Education and Creative Thinking for all ages. We're big fans that you're never too young to start -- and never too old to learn! #lifelonglearning.
How do I get involved?
You can download the PDF of our programs at-a-glance to find what you're passionate about. Check out the steps to get started above. And you can always get in touch with any questions you have along the way.
What if I don't go to one of your schools?
No worries! The RMN is starting Casual community-based programs in Term 4 2024. Book in any time and many programs allow you to invite a friend. We also have our RMN Rock Orchestra programs for Teens.
I see fees are by the term. Am I locked in?

Where do I find out when I'm scheduled?

How do I access my recent feedback, notes and resources?
Easy! Hop into your Member Portal and you'll be able to locate the feedback, messages, resources and more for any Member in your Family account.
How do I keep track of how many lessons my musician has had?

Do you work with musicians with individual learning or support needs? Can my child join in ensemble activities?
