Violinist and Educator Henry Vyhnal brings a wealth of experience and talent to the Ranges Music Network team. Growing up in a musical household in Wangaratta with a Violinist father and musical mother, Henry’s future as a musician was perhaps a foregone conclusion. His Father’s commitment to the local music community and to supporting aspiring musicians laid the seed that would grow to inspire Henry’s own career.
Henry’s broad spectrum of experiences include promoting music with the City of Melbourne, managing festivals, playing in everything from classical to world to synth rock outfits and working with such Australian luminaries as Nick Cave, Joe Camilerri and Stephen Cummings. He has been extensively recorded and performed throughout Australia.
He is perhaps best known for his work as an Educator and advocate for music and music education. His career as a teacher in the education system has included posts in Melbourne and in the Macedon Ranges and included nurturing and supporting students progress in Music, Media and Technologies. Henry was a founding member and artistic director for the not-for-profit Music In The Central Highlands which supported access to classical music performance opportunities throughout the region.
He is a passionate composer and performer and now works to develop young Classical Violinists, Fiddlers and composers. Students find Henry’s passion and energy infectious and his commitment to their development is highly regarded by his fellow Educators.
The fantastic, colorful story of Henry’s early years is best put in his own words here at the Music Trust website, where he is a regular pundit: http://musictrust.com.au/loudmouth/inside-the-musician-henry-vyhnal-pure-sound/
